Fancy Office Dry Erase Board

Okay, so I recently went ahead and rearranged my home office. The layout just wasn’t working for me anymore, I wanted to integrate a TV and couch  into the mix, and my son long ago used a sharpie to “make the furniture pretty”.  In his defense, I think he believed it was a washable marker but, still, just…so…frustrating. Anyway, I needed to clean up the marks, which would require lightly sanding and sealing the cabinet again. Annoying, but no big deal. This also seemed like a good time to get the office the way I wanted it.

The old configuration was designed in a “T” shape so that there could be used by two people. This worked in our last home, but our new home has another dedicated office that my wife uses. This means that I was working in a smaller space than I need too. So I wanted to ditch the leg of the “T” was really just a big piece of glass. I cleaned up all the cabinets, add new LED lighting pucks to them, wired in a new TV, and purchased a futon type of sofa. It all worked better than expected. However, I still had that piece of glass to deal with and one angled wall that was kind of blank. Then it hit me. Why not hang the frost glass to the wall and use it as a dry erase board? So, I created some simple little brackets out of curly maple and hung it on the wall. Perfect! Oh, and don’t be confused by the picture. It is not hung on its side.

I know it sounds simple, but I was trying for days to think of something to do with that glass besides just sticking it in the basement (where I will end up breaking it) or building a way-to-big coffee table when it just HIT ME out of nowhere. Anyway, just thought I’d share this little moment of inspiration with all of you.
